I'm a general fan of the phone, but there are two serious issues.

Unfortunately my Samsung Rant's battery life has gotten weaker and weaker over my couple months of ownership. Thinking about going to the Sprint Store for service on it.

The other major problem is that it has limited text message memory. After you get to a total of something like 250 text messages, the phone demands that you delete old messages to make room for new ones. This is senseless because the phone's memory shows hundreds of megabytes of free storage space remaining.

These two issues are making the phone pretty unpleasant to use.

Hmmm, that's a strange issue. I moved on from the Rant to the Nokia E71/iPhone, but from what I do recall, the Rant recorded message time and date history by default. I also just pulled the Rant out to verify that mine did record the time/date automatically. I didn't see a setting to switch this on or off. If your Rant isn't recording the time/date, it could be a firmware issue on your phone. You should contact Sprint on the phone (good luck) or either take it to your nearest Sprint store to have a technician check it out.
