iSick of iPhone
Unless you’ve been under a rock, the iPhone has arrived…and I’m sick and tired of hearing about it. While going through two days worth of RSS feeds earlier today, I lost count about the number of posts that had any and everything to do with the “jesusphone.” I reached a point where anything that had iPhone in the title, I just deleted it without reading it. I have been absolutely bombarded with way too much coverage about the super-hyped phone. Yes, it’s beautiful. Yes, it’s turned the other cell phone manufacturer’s world upside down. But enough already! It’s a phone.
And just in case you’re wondering, I’m not hating on the phone or Apple. I really do think it appears to be a slick device at a glance, and if I really, really wanted one, I could go buy one. I am an AT&T (formerly Cingular) customer who’s ability to upgrade just happen to time nicely with the phone’s launch. But I simply just don’t care that much about playing music (via iTunes) in my phone. I already have a Samsung UpStage with SprintNextel - which just died on me after having it for two months and is currently back at the manufacturer for repair/replacement. I don’t use it for music. I may listen to a podcast on it from time to time, but I use my Zune 99.9% of the time when listening to podcasts . Yes, I get that the iPhone combines a phone, music player, and email capabilities into one device. For some people who want all of this into a single device right now, that’s great; however, until batteries can last longer, I will gladly carry around my non-Apple phone(s) and my Zune.
