MySpace (Champ) vs. Facebook (Challenger)

I’m not a social networking fan in terms of using MySpace and Facebook. Neither site ever appealed to me, mainly because I’m just not interested in meeting hundreds of new people that I’ll never know in real life. However, millions of people disagree and are actively using one or both of these social networking sites, with MySpace reigning as the undisputed champ. With MySpace being viewed as a virtual playground for predators and not making any real innovations, Facebook is gaining some ground with its latest offerings and decision to open its platform. That’s good for Facebook, its users, and the ability for the Palo Alto-based startup to attract new sign ups for its service. However, I think the college elite who were exclusive members to the club might object to more kids playing in their sandbox.
